Who is Memory Care for?
An individual may be appropriate for memory care placement if they are experiencing any of the following:
- Anxiety or agitation in large group settings
- Problems organizing thoughts or thinking logically
- Short-term memory loss or increased confusion
- Difficulty recognizing close friends or relatives
- Problems with language and communication
- Poor or decreased judgment and orientation
- Tendency to wander or become lost in familiar places
- Repetitive statements or movements that interfere with ability to perform ADL's
- Sundowner's syndrome
Memory care unit features:
- Private and semi-private room placement for maximum of 11 residents
- Secured entrances and exits
- Low staff to resident ration, RN on site 24 hours a day
- Specialized education and training for staff members
- Individualized activity program
- Cozy gathering area with fireplace and piano
- Secured outdoor courtyard with picnic area and peaceful water fountain
- All meals served within unit
- Laundry, housekeeping and personal care services provided
- Residents are able to leave the unit if escorted by staff, family or friends
- Residents can be seen by physician of their choice. Transportation provided to medical, dental and eye appointments in Sioux Falls and local area.
- Pre-admission screening required of all residents
